I've had this on my reading list for a while and I am glad I finally read it. I enjoyed Eskens' characters. The pace moved quickly and not too many plot giveaways. Eskens wrote the character, Carl Iverson, as a crotchety old man at terms with his terminal cancer. He was a likeable character, though. I liked the fact that Eskens included a character with developmental disabilities, and that he played a part in solving the mystery. Not too often is a person with disabilities portrayed positively in novels. I would definitely would read more of Allen Eskens' writing.
