I did like this book but at points I found it a little slow for me. I was not overexcited about the character, Patty, but I did like the historical part of the story about Patty's grandmother and mother. Having to deal with first the death of the grandmother's husband to being interned in one of the Japanese American POW camps was well written. Littlefield did not throw in a lot of the small characters which she could have considering the size of the internment camp. Littlefield built a strong character in Lucy while showing all that she went through as a teen at the internment camp and later before she had Patty. The ending (without trying for spoilers) did tie up some of the questions I had as well as provided a surprise or two.
