The Night Garden: a Novel
by Lisa Van Allen
The Night Garden: a Novel by Lisa Van Allen had a premise that looked promising. While I enjoyed her description of the garden, I found the main character not very approachable. Olivia Pennywort, to a certain extent, was set up that way. Her character and her father run a farm that seems to grow beautifully despite what environmental concerns have hit the rest of the town. Olivia also allows transient women to stay free of charge in the barn on the conditions they work and they are not allowed to ever touch her, even if it's just on the arm.
I was only able to get just under 2/3 of the book read. At that point it felt a little like it started to drag on and get predictable. Some may find it interesting but I didn't.
